Resurrection Bible Church, Inc. (RBC) was founded by Rev. Alexander Joe Martin on December 23, 2004. The church held its first worship service on January 2, 2005 at Buck Lodge Middle School in Adelphi, Maryland.
Birthed out of Pastor Martin’s vision from the Lord in October 2004 to “start my church”, RBC was established as a non-denominational church with discipleship ministry as its primary focus. The church took its name from that same vision: Resurrection- “A New Life” from the Bible- “The Word of God” to the Church- “The Called Out Ones of God”.
Aided by his wife, Rev. Sheila Martin, Pastor Martin began his search for a place to hold worship services. Although many establishments weren’t receptive to having a church in their building, the Lord directed Sarah Foster and Veronica Nivens to Buck Lodge Middle School, 2611 Buck Lodge Road, Adelphi, Maryland as an available facility. The Buck Lodge lease was signed by Pastor Martin on Tuesday, December 21, 2004.
During RBC’s inaugural service, 23 souls joined the church thereby forming its original congregation. Since that glorious day in January 2005, the Lord has blessed this church through increased membership and establishing several new ministries to meet the needs of His people.
On February 27, 2013, RBC purchased the property located at 10835 Lanham Severn Road Glenn Dale, Maryland for our new church home. Over the next 11 months, the RBC members worked diligently to obtain the required county permits and bring the building up to code. On Sunday, January 19, 2014, RBC held its first service in our very own building to the glory of God.“
We remember the days of long ago and meditate on all Your works, and give thanks for what Your Hands have done”. Psalm 143:5
Write the vision and make it plain.” (Habakkuk 2:1)
